august closet additions

2015 AUGUST CLOSET ADDITIONS

H&M Maternity Tanks: $13 each = $26
I didn't want to buy any summer maternity clothes, but I bought these tanks for my Disney trip next month! I think they'll be perfect and airy enough to keep me cool in the Orlando heat.

H&M White Shorts: $18
I only own one pair of maternity shorts, and I can't wear them the whole time in Disney. So I ordered these for my trip, and while I do plan to wear them, I'm not happy with them. I'm normally a 4, but something told me to order a 6. Good thing I did because I probably couldn't even get all the way into the 4. The 6 is pretty tight, but I really don't want to have to pay another $6 shipping to send them back and then another $6 shipping for another pair. So I will just be squeezing my preggo booty in these for 1 day in Disney.

Maternity Leggings: $25 each (BOGO 1/2 off) = $37.50
I don't love how much these cost, but I really need them and I know that I will get a ton of use out of them in the fall.. maybe even too much use!

Motherhood Maternity Shirt (black): (clearance) $8

PinkBlush Maternity Blouse: ($15 flash sale) $15
PinkBlush had a $15 flash sale and I just couldn't resist! Their clothes are just too soft and comfy!

PinkBlush Maternity Tee: ($15 flash sale) $15

PinkBlush Maternity Dress: ($15 flash sale) $15
The good thing about this dress is that it doesn't look maternity at all, so I will be able to wear it post-pregnancy too!

Old Navy Striped Sweater: Garage Sale $0.50

Mossimo Tank: Garage Sale $0.30

Gap Cardigan: Garage Sale $2
I LOVE this waterfall style cardigan. I see myself wearing it a lot this fall/winter.

Banana Republic Cardigan: Garage Sale $3

{not pictured}Black Gap Shirt: Garage Sale $2

{not pictured} Gray Slip On Shoes: JC Penney Org. $40, on sale for $30, 15% off coupon = $25
Similar to these Sketchers. Not something I would normally buy, but last year I thought I could handle Disney in sandals like when I worked there, and that was a mistake. Hopefully these will keep my feet comfy this year!

Total spent: $167.30 - clothes sold on Poshmark $12 = $155.30

Total Spent this year: $464.80

I spent much more than I normally would in a month, but I suppose that's what happens when your hips keep widening and your belly is growing. And not to mention a Disney trip planned for next month! Considering how expensive maternity clothes are, I think I'm doing pretty good at this point. I definitely see myself buying a few more maternity items, but once fall is here I know I will be able to get away with tunics and leggings!

21 weeks

21 WEEKS

How far along? 21 weeks + 2 days

Baby is the size of a: Cantaloupe.

Total weight gain: 7 lbs. I had a doctor's appointment last week and my doctor said that I've gained the perfect amount so far, not too much and not too little.

Maternity clothes? Look better on me than regular clothes. My regular tops just make me look fat!

Sleep: I want more of it.

Movement? Yesss and loving it. As I type this, I can feel her kicking around!

Cravings: None.

Symptoms: The heartburn has begun. I've been feeling great though! It's funny because now that I'm actually showing people are always asking how I feel. If they would've been asking in the first trimester, they wouldn't have gotten a great response. Haha.

Best moment this week: Registering at babiesrus Saturday! I had so much fun with my mom and sister, but I gotta say that it was at the same time exhausting!

maternity vs. sizing up

maxi skirt + denim vest
Top: Walmart c/o Mom
Skirt: White House Black Market Outlet (clearance) $10
Vince Camuto Vest: Bargain World Thrift Store $2
American Eagle Sandals: Marshall's, gift carded
Necklace: Forever 21 $7
Total Outfit Cost: $19

I've heard and read that a lot of women will just size up instead of buying maternity tops while pregnant. While this seemed like a good idea to me before I was pregnant, I know now that it's definitely not for me. Since most of my regular tops are loose fitting, almost all of them do still fit me at this point in my pregnancy. Problem is- 1. they aren't long enough to cover the band of my maternity pants (which are a necessity), 2. I just look fat. When I wear loose fitting, non-maternity tops, I don't look pregnant at all. I just look chunky! When I wear tight fitting or maternity tops, I look obviously pregnant. Not only that, but it makes me feel a whole lot more confident in my clothes. So while some women can get away with wearing regular tops, I will gladly wear maternity tops! I specifically love these with the cute little ruching on the side (which by the way, my mom bought online from Wamart for just a few dollars each).

PinkBlush giveaway {closed}

pink blush olive top
(Charlie Poo photobomb)
olive striped top
Top: c/o Pink Blush Maternity
Gap Jeans: Thredup $16
Sandals: Target $15
Total Outfit Cost: $31

Funny story about this outfit. I suppose the stripes and the tight shirt accentuate the bump nicely because when I wore this I found everyone (meaning strangers) would look at me and I'd watch their eyes go from my eyes down to my bump. I guess this was just the first instance of this happening because ever since then, I'm seeing it more and more! I don't mind though, as long as they aren't looking at my bump trying to figure out if I just gained weight haha.

I'm so excited to offer y'all a giveaway for a chance to win a $25 gift card to PinkBlush today! I'm seriously so impressed with their clothing, and I know whoever wins will be too!
All you need to do to enter is comment on this blog post with your email address. (only one entry per person)

20 weeks | 5 months | halfway there!

20 WEEKS .
20 weeks

How far along? 20 weeks + 2 days. Halfway there to meeting our baby girl!!

Baby is the size of a: Mango. Last week at the ultrasound they said she was 11oz.

Total weight gain: Guesstimating about 5ish lbs. I'll find out on Thursday at my appointment.

Maternity clothes? Bottoms and a few tops!

Sleep: Not that bad, but could be better! Been waking up 2x a night to pee -__-

Movement? I'm starting to feel her moving around, especially at night when I'm going to bed. I love it.

Cravings: None.

Symptoms: Frequent urination for suuure. Indigestion is still worst at night. Oh and probably TMI but if I hold it and sneeze I almost pee on myself. No more holding it!!

Nursery:  Baby girl's Mawmaw Nay and Pawpaw Kev came over this weekend to repaint her room. Mawmaw painted it a few months ago, but the gray color came out ugly. It looks SO much better now, and it's the perfect gray.

Best moment this week: Feeling her kick for the 1st time!! I was laying on the couch Monday night and I could feel her being active and moving around so I was holding my hand over my belly. After a few minutes, I finally felt a tiny little kick! She wouldn't do it again for her daddy though haha.

made in heaven

I have to admit that the main reason I haven't been blogging much is because I have been on the struggle bus with dressing this new body of mine. I always thought dressing a bump would be fun and easy, but I was certainly wrong! I have been in such an in between stage with the bump. My pants have pretty much been too tight and have not fit since the start, but I've been struggling for a baby bump up until now! So, needless to say, getting dressed has not been easy.

Luckily, Ginny collaborated with Pink Blush Maternity and offered a giveaway.. and guess what! I won!! After finding out I won, Pink Blush contacted me and asked me to also collaborate with them! It was certainly a good day that day I tell ya.

Pink Blush is a maternity boutique that has a ton of cute maternity clothes. They aren't the drab maternity clothes I've been seeing everywhere either. It's all stuff that I would want to wear post pregnancy also. What I really love is their selection of maternity dresses. I know for sure when it's time to pick out a dress for my baby shower that I will be clicking over to their site first!

When it came to picking maternity clothes from Pink Blush, I knew I wanted some items I can wear into the fall as the bump grows. The first thing I chose were the perfect black maternity pants. They're as comfy as leggings, but just thick enough to actually be called pants. I got them in a medium and they fit like a dream. The next thing I chose was this white top. When I saw it, it immediately struck me as something that looked super comfy and I knew I had to have it. Plus, It doubles as a nursing top! Both these pants and the blouse are so amazingly soft and comfy, I swear they're made in heaven!

Be sure to stop by tomorrow for a giveaway to Pink Blush! (Psssst- they don't just have maternity clothes ;)

bustin out

coral striped dress

chambray tied over maxi dress
Dress: Groopdealz $20
Button up: Forever 21 $20
Sandals: Rack Room Shoes $25
Total Outfit Cost: $65

This is probably my favorite outfit I've worn that shows off my bump! Unfortunately I may not be able to wear it again or anything like it without a new chambray button up. I was busting out of this one the whole day. It wouldn't be so bad if the buttons were regular buttons, but they're snaps. I would breathe too hard at work and would have to hurry and snap it back!

I could've also titled this outfit "how to accentuate a small bump." Apparently horizontal stripes is #1 for making a small bump look not so small. #2 is knotting your shirt right above the bump. #3 bust out your shirt all day.. ok kidding. Be smarter than me and wear a shirt that actually fits. :)

swing swing swing

striped swing dress + pink belt

IMG_0838
Dress: Old Navy $13.50
Belt: Charming Charlie (clearance) $6
Sandals: Old
Total Outfit Cost: $19.50

Along with quite a few other bloggers, I am LOVING these Old Navy swing dresses. I also have the orange one. They're so soft that they seriously feel like pajamas. If you haven't tried one on yet, you should. You won't regret it. What I regret is not sizing up so that I can wear them towards the end of my pregnancy. But I did see today that Old Navy came out with a long sleeve version, so maybe I'll size up and get one once they go on sale!

Ok y'all. My goal this week is to catch up on some blogging. I'm holding myself to it. I have to! It wasn't such a big deal when I'd get behind on blogging before, but now that I have a growing bump, it can be confusing for me to post all out of order! What I'm going to do on each outfit post is try to include my weekly bump status at the end of each post. Hopefully that will help!

I wore this to eat for Larry's birthday dinner at Texas de Brazil.  Then we met my bestie and her husband at the movies to see Inside Out. Yes, we somehow drug our husbands to see a children's Disney movie with us and neither of them complained! Anyways, I had eaten so much at dinner that I totally had to take off this belt during the movie! I would have just loosened it, but it was already on the last hole. I guess this is what happens when you add a food baby to a baby baby!

summer style

IMG_6550
Top: Target | Skirt: Target | Sandals: Target [similar] | Purse: Garage Sale

I never get to wear cute summer outfits like this! For the month of July, I worked Tuesday to Saturday, so that put me wearing work clothes on those days, a church outfit on Sunday (and then either change into comfy clothes or go swimming at my in-laws'), and then on Mondays I'd clean the house, be lazy, and/or go grocery shopping... all which require nike shorts and a t-shirt. But this certain Monday was different! Larry had a doctor's appointment out of town, so I decided to join him, and he decided to take me to the zoo! Yes, we are children expecting a child. Hah. It was nice little outing for us and definitely a change from my normal Mondays!
